In the Eyes of Another (pov)
I tried to live inside your eyes,
to see my soul where your vision lies.
Where broken edges caught the light,
and jagged silence felt alright.
I traced the paths your stars had made,
learned the rhythm your heart obeyed.
I bent my world to match your sky,
believed our orbits could align if I tried.
But you remained a distant flame,
a lantern's glow that never came.
Your gravity refused to bend,
and all my reach could not transcend.
I wanted us to find our way,
to fold two nights into one day.
Yet your gaze drifted, cold, apart,
and shattered the cathedral of my heart.
It tore me down, this cruel divide,
to hold a mirror where love had died.
The light you gave could not remain,
and left me aching with only pain.
Still, I keep the fragments near,
the ghost of how your eyes were clear.
A love that burned but could not stay,
taught me to see, and walk away.
“There was a lot of love, but sometimes love just isn’t enough”
Toni Braxton
